Choosing standard settings

The DVD player provides four standard settings, called Types,

which configure the 598 into the most commonly needed

configurations.

Choosing one of the four Types overrides any other

configuration you may have performed, and so can be used to

reset the configuration of the unit.

Types 1 and 2 are for use with multi-channel 96kHz surround

processors; choose Type 1 if you have a Meridian 568.2 or 861, or

Type 2 if you have a non-Meridian processor. Types 0 and 3 are

for use with surround processors without a multi-channel input;

choose Type 0 if you have a system that does not support 96kHz,

or Type 3 if you have a Meridian 96kHz surround processor.

The following table gives full details of each Type:

All Types set the video output to S-video.

To restore the standard settings

Switch the 598 to standby.

Hold down Off (front panel).

After a short delay the display

will show:

Type,wait...

Press

[ or ] on the front panel to change the Type

number.

For example, if you select Type 1

the display shows:

Type 1

Wait until the display shows:

Typing, wait

The display then shows:

Type 1

Press Off to switch back to standby.

Switch on again to use the 598 with the standard setting you

have selected.
