This sub-element is the extension number for a phone or a CTI application. An extension can be
any internal phone number managed by the CallManager’s DialPlan, according to its
configuration. Supported extensions include:

Cisco IP Phone (79xx series) registered to the CallManager cluster.

Analog Phone connected to a voice gateway (for example, ATA186 or Cisco VG200 Series,)
and registered to the CallManager cluster.

Legacy phone connected to a legacy PBX. It is not registered to the CallManager cluster, but
has an extension number defined within the company’s internal DialPlan. A record can be
stored by the CallManager each time an internal legacy phone makes a call with an IP phone.

VoiceMail application, which is defined in the CallManager as a special range of extension
numbers.

Front desk operator.

Hunt Group — a group of people in the company with the same extension number.

Conference bridge.

Any other CTI Application (IVR, AutoAttendant).

External PSTN numbers and unknown numbers that are not defined in the internal DialPlan of
the CallManager configuration are not managed by Netcool/Proviso through a specific sub-
element. However, each time a record is found in the CDR database with an external or unknown
number, metrics for either of the following specific sub-elements are created or updated:
