Replacing a Fixed Power Supply

Warning: Hazardous voltage, current, and energy levels are present inside the power supply. There

are no user-serviceable parts inside it; servicing should be done by technically qualified

personnel.

1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book.
2. Power down the server and unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable.
3. Remove the chassis cover. For instructions, see

“Removing the Chassis Cover” on

page 16

.

4. Disconnect all internal power cables from chassis components and server board.
5. Remove the eight screws securing the fixed power supply shield to the chassis (see

letter “A” in the following figure). Remove the fixed power supply (see letter “B”).

6. Insert new fixed power supply.
7. Secure the fixed power supply shield to the chassis with the eight screws.
8. Connect the P1, P14, and P16 cables to the server board. See the Intel

®

server

board Quick Start User’s Guide or User Guide for connection locations.

9. Reconnect power cables to other chassis components as appropriate.
10. Install the chassis cover. For instructions, see

“Installing the Chassis Cover” on

page 17

.

11. Plug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable into the server.
12. Power up the server.
