IMPORTANT: Before using the Remote Control for the
tape operations, set the Remote Control to the tape
operation mode by pressing the TAPE button.

Tape Direction Indicator on the unit
The Tape Direction indicator tells you which direction the tape runs.
During playback, the indicator flashes slowly.
During fast left or fast right, the indicator flashes quickly.
During Music Scan mode, the indicator flashes slowly and quickly alter-
nately.

❏ Most tapes are now recorded with the Dolby NR system, so first check which type of the Dolby

NR system has been used on the tape. Only Dolby B NR is incorporated into the CA-MD9R.

❏ With Automatic Tape Selection, you can listen to type I, II (CrO

2

) or IV (Metal) tapes without

changing any settings.

The use of tapes longer than 120 minutes is not recommended, since characteristic deterioration
may occur and these tapes easily jam in the pinch-rollers and the capstans.
