Using the AV Source (Built-in CD Drive and Radio)

Operating the Built-in CD Drive

You can play a CD or MP3/WMA/WAV disc using
the built-in CD drive of the navigation unit. This
section describes common operations for these
media.

(1) Source icon
Shows which source has been selected.

(2) Play time indicator
Shows the elapsed playing time of the current
track.

(3) Track number indicator
Shows the track currently playing.

(4) Current folder name indicator
Shows the folder name currently playing or tem-
porarily displayed in the list.

(5) Folder number indicator
Shows the folder number currently playing.

(6) Folder and track list
Shows contents of the folder currently playing or
temporarily displayed.

❒ When playing discs with MP3/WMA/WAV

files and audio data (CD-DA) such as CD-
EXTRA and MIXEDMODE CDs, both types can
be played only by switching mode between
MP3 and CD-DA by touching “MEDIA”.
When playing back the CD-DA part, the opera-
tion is the same as for CDs.
Likewise, when playing back the MP3/WMA/
WAV part, the operation is the same as for
MP3/WMA/WAV. When you operate it, refer to
the instruction for each media.

❒ If you have switched between playback of

MP3/WMA/WAV files and audio data (CD-
DA), playback starts at the first track on the
disc.

❒ This built-in CD drive can play back a MP3/

WMA/WAV file recorded on CD-ROM.

❒ When being read in, READING FORMAT is

displayed.

❒ Playback is carried out in order of file number.

Folders are skipped if they contain no files. (If
folder 001 (ROOT) contains no files, playback
commences with folder 002.)

❒ When playing back files recorded as VBR (var-

iable bit rate) files, the play time will not be
correctly displayed if fast forward or reverse
operations are used.

❒ If you are using a folder that does not contain

an MP3/WMA/WAV file, the folder itself will
display but you will not be able to see any files
in the folder.

❒ The maximum number of characters which

can be displayed for a file name, including the
extension (.mp3, .wma or .wav), is 30, from the
first character. (20 characters are maximum
in the folder and title list.)

❒ The maximum number of characters which

can be displayed for a folder name is 30. (20
characters are maximum in the folder and
title list.)

❒ In case of files recorded according to the

Romeo file system, only the first 30 characters
can be displayed. (20 characters are maxi-
mum in the folder and title list.)
