Setup Procedures

Express Setup configures the settings for each of the parameters in the Wizard form. You can also
save each of the parameters as one file (parameter file) to a floppy disk.

CHECK:

To execute Express Setup with a parameter file, one empty 1.44MB formatted floppy disk
is required. Prepare an empty floppy disk in advance.

When you reinstall OS, you can skip entering the parameter in the Wizard form, by reading
the parameter file that has been saved.

Also, during Express Setup, to individually apply the attached driver FDs (OEM-FD for
high-capacity storage), it is necessary to configure the parameter file settings as well. You
also need to prepare an empty floppy disk for this purpose.

IMPORTANT:

In case of changing the system configuration, update the system (page 6-8).

1.

Turn on the peripherals and then NEC Express5800/ft series.

TIPS:

To connect a hard disk drive other than the one to which you install OS, install the
OS in advance.

2.

Insert the NEC EXPRESSBUILDER CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of the server.

3.

When having inserted the CD-ROM correctly, reset the system (press Ctrl, Alt and Delete
together), or turn the power off and then turn it on to restart the NEC Express5800/ft series.

The system starts through the CD-ROM, and NEC EXPRESSBUILDER is activated.

4.

Select [Express Setup].
