Ethernet Interface

The Ethernet Modem may be connected

to a PC via an Ethernet connection. This configuration also

allows multiple PC devices to be connected to a single Modem. The multi-PC configuration is
transparent to the PC users and is analogous to a multi-PC configuration on a normal Ethernet LAN. The
distinct advantage of the Ethernet Modem is that it connects to any device that has an Ethernet interface.
This makes it ideal for small businesses that have a mix of devices, such as Unix machines, Apple
Computers

,

etc. IP addresses can be assigned to the devices dynamically via a DHCP server, or as Fixed

IP assignments, or Point-to-Point Protocol Over Ethernet (PPPoE).

Routers & Hubs

The Navini Monitor software will not work if going through a router or if going through some USB or
Ethernet hubs. Doing so may cause Navini Monitor software not to operate.

Battery

The Ripwave Modem comes with an optional 1800 mAh Li-Ion battery that allows the user to be
nomadic. The user can be connected to the Internet anytime and anywhere there is RF coverage without
the need for a power outlet. The current Modem battery is rated to provide up to 4 hours of use without
recharging (depending on activity). The Modem can be configured by the Service Provider as sleep or
standby mode, which allows the Modem to conserve battery power when not in use.
