Version 2.0 Release Notes

Move down to

Mode

, and set this parameter

to

Normal

. Now when you move up again

to the mark name and turn the wheel, you
can edit the name by a character at a time, so
it’s easy to change the verse number.

NOTE

Remember that you can only use eight marks per song.

7

Press

ENTER

to write the new mark settings.

Metronome

When you’re recording with a MIDI pattern or a
MIDI file, you don’t need a metronome—the MIDI
instruments help to keep you in time.

However, when you’re playing with no backing, you
may want a metronome to keep in time (you may also
want a count-in to a pattern—see below). With the
version 2 software, the Pocketstudio 5 provides you
with just that.

To set up and use the metronome with no backing:

1

Press the

MENU

key and enter the

SYSTEM

menu.

2

Set the

TgMode

to

OFF

.

3

Move down to the

Metro

(metronome)

parameter, and press the right cursor pad:

4

Tempo

Set the tempo for your song (from

50

through

250

, measured in beats per

minute).

song. Select from the following:

6

Level

Set the initial level for the metro-

nome (

0

through

127

).

7

Press

EXIT

. Set when you want the metro-

nome to play:

RecOnly

(only while

recording),

RecPlay

(while recording and

playing back), or

OFF

.

8

Now when you play back or record (as set
above), you can hear the metronome. You
can adjust the volume with the

TG

fader.

NOTE

Remember to turn the metronome

OFF

when you are

mixing down, otherwise the metronome sound will be
included in the final mix when you mix down (almost
certainly, you do not want this to happen).

Count-in

When you are playing with one of the tone generator
patterns, you will usually want a count-in to allow
you to adjust to the tempo before you start playing or
singing.

In this version of the Pocketstudio 5 software, you
can do this in the following way:

1

From the

SYSTEM

menu, set the

TgMode

to

Pattern

.

2

Set up the metronome as above (the tempo
and time signature are determined by the
pattern, of course).

3

Enter the

PATTERN

menu, scroll down to

Arnge

(arrange), use the wheel to select

User

or

Preset

, and press the right cur-

sor pad (the display will show something like
this).

4

Now press the left cursor pad so that only the

1

on the first line is blinking. This is the mea-

sure (bar) at which this section of the song
pattern starts.

5

Use the wheel so that the first section starts
after the beginning of the song. For example,

T e m p o

/ d = 1 2 0

T i m S i g :

4 / 4

L e v e l

: 1 1 9

9 - F i l l A B (

1 0 - V e r s e B (
