This is also a common measure used by other caching adapters, such
as Mylex, to improve the performance. Of course, if you turn the
cache off, i.e., set the "Cacheable device" option to "No", and you'll
find things are back to they used to be.
9. Wait for about 30 seconds during power up of the system if the medium
not inserted in the removable media device:

This is correct. To shorten the waiting time you can either insert the
medium or set the "Cacheable device" to "No" in the ECU diskette or
ACF20SU.EXE before powering up the system.
10. Hang very soon after the ECU setup:

For some specific drives, such as NEC 384, Seagate ST3283N, &
Alps DR312D, you need to setup the Max Sync Xfer Rate option to
5MB/sec instead of 10MB/sec (default).
