Appendix
Add additional handsets
Your telephone can accommodate up to eght cordless handsets. You can
add new handsets (VTech 5808, purchased separately) anytme. Up to three
handsets can be on a call at the same tme.
The handset provded wth your telephone system s automatcally regstered as
Handset 1 (5871), or Handset 1 and Handset 2 (for 5873). Addtonal handsets
wll be assgned n numercal order (2, 3, 4, etc.) when they are regstered.
Before usng a separately purchased handset, t must be regstered wth the
base unt.
Registration of handsets
• Make sure the addtonal handset s fully charged before regstraton.
• On the base unt, press the softkey
MENU n dle mode.
• Press the softkey three tmes to reach REGISTER HANDSET, and press
the softkey SELECT to select.
• The base unt screen dsplays READY TO REGISTER NEW HANDSET,
press the softkey REGISTER on the handset.
• The handset screen dsplays Registration in Progress. Wthn 15-60
seconds, the screen dsplays Found Base, and the base unt and handset
wll beep.
The maxmum number of handsets for use at any tme s three, and the possble
combnatons nclude:
• Three handsets and the base unt on an external call.
• Two handsets and the base unt on an external call, and one handset
accessng the answerng system.
• One handset and the base unt are on an external call, and two handsets
are on ntercom.
