This chapter explains how to identify and replace
faulty modules of your RAID system.

You may need to send the ExaSAN A08S-PS RAID system to your service
provider for maintenance. Always power on the RAID system before the host
server to ensure that data on the hard disk drives are properly accessed and
displayed correctly.

When a module fails, an audible alert sounds. To turn off
the audible alert, open RAIDGuard X and disable the
beeper.

Replacing a Disk

One or multiple hard disk drives may be malfunctioning if you hear three short
beeps when the system is powering on. In the event of disk failure, the
power/error indicator LED on the front of the disk tray and the corresponding
LED light on the front of the RAID system both turn red.
To confirm that the source of the beeper alert is disk failure, open RAIDGuard
X and view the status of the hard disk drives. If any hard disk drive shows up
as "failed", replace it with the following steps.

The hard disk drives are hot-swappable. They can be
removed and inserted while the RAID system is powered
on and operating.
