9 Diagnostics

9.1 Maintenance

The instrument is maintenance-free.

9.2 Simulation

Note

When the simulation is activated, the entire
display flashes. The measured data
delivered by the sensors are not released for
processing; you should, therefore, quit this
menu item as soon as possible. After 60
minutes there is an automatic reset to meas.
value indication.

9.3 Fault signal

The signal conditioning instrument and the
connected sensor are permanently moni-
tored during operation. During the parameter
adjustment, the adjusted values are checked
for plausibility. In both cases a fault signal
can be triggered by irregularities.

In case of failure, an error code is displayed
(only within the meas. value indication), the
fail-safe relay deenergises, the signal lamp
lights and the outputs react according to the
preadjusted condition.

The error codes are listed in section 9.5 on
the following pages.

The diagnosis info is transmitted as a
scrolling text info.

Configuration

For each individual measurement loop, you
can determine if a fault signal should be trig-
gered or not. See menu "Configuration meas-
urement loop", menu item "Fault signal".

Parameter adjustment

In the menu item "Failure mode" you can de-
termine individually for each measurement
loop whether and how an exceeding of the
measuring range should trigger a fault signal.

9.4 Repair

For safety and guarantee reasons, repair on
the instrument must only be carried out by
VEGA staff.

In case of defect, please return the affected
instrument with a short description of the fault
to our repair department.
