Setup

Integration of the GSD file

The GSD file of VEGASCAN must be inte-
grated so that the VEGASCAN appears in
the instrument catalogue of HW-Config. The
properties of VEGASCAN (e.g. possible
baud rates) are described in the GSD file.
The GSD file is called "_COMb208.GSD“ and
is included on the supplied utility diskette, in
addition there are bitmap files for
VEGASCAN. Proceed as follows to integrate
the GSD file:

In the window HW Config you have to choose
under the menu item "Extras“ -> "Install new
GSD...“ the GSD file "_COMb208.GSD“. By
pushing the button "Open“, VEGASCAN is
integrated in the instrument catalogue. The
bitmaps are installed automatically, if they are
in the same directory as the GSD file.

Plan Master/Host system

As a first step, the complete connected S7
hardware (carrier, power supply unit, CPU,
I/O etc.) must be planned. After a CPU or a
communication processor with DP interface
has been added, a Profibus network must be
created now. Under "Properties“ -> button
"PROFIBUS“ of the DP master, a new Profi-
bus network will be created with the button
"New“.

Create new Profibus network

After a Profibus network has been created,
the baud rate and the bus parameters for the
Profibus network can be chosen via the but-
ton "Properties“ and "Network adjustments“.

Plan Profibus-Slave VEGASCAN

In the instrument catalogue of the window
HW Config you must choose under "Profibus
DP“ -> "Additional field devices“ -> "GATE-
WAY“ VEGASCAN. With Drag & Drop
VEGASCAN can be now allocated to a Profi-
bus network. The following steps have to be
carried out:

I. Selection of the operating mode:

As soon as VEGASCAN has been allo-
cated, the enquiry for the operating mode
is made. In the window "Selection of the
desired configuration“ the requested oper-
ating mode must be selected.

II. Allocate Slave address:

After selection of the operating mode, the
enquiry for the Slave address and the
Profibus adjustments (baud rate etc.) is
made in an additional window.

The planned Slave address must correspond
to the Slave address that was set with the
DIL-switch on VEGASCAN.

III. Allocation of input and output addresses

for VEGASCAN
In the window "Properties - DP-Slave“ the
input and output addresses for
VEGASCAN can be allocated. The window
can be reached by marking VEGASCAN
(clicking the ICON of VEGASCAN) and
double clicking in the chart of VEGASCAN
in the line with "Universal module“. In the
window that opens, the initial address of
the input or output section can be deter-
mined. The "Length“, "Unit“ and "Consistent
over“ must not be modified. The number of
bytes reserved by VEGASCAN in the
address space of S7 depends on the
selected operating mode.
