For Windows Vista Operating Systems: Your batch portable device and
your PC use the Windows Mobile Device Center Software for Vista
and the Sync Center to communicate with each other. Make sure that a
two-way sync partnership is established between your PC and your
device. Also, make sure that your device is a sync center supported
device that uses Windows Mobile Device Center software.

If you use an installed firewall, or if you use Windows XP or Windows
Vista Operating Systems and it is required that the Windows Firewall
remain on, the following applications must be set as exceptions: Inter-
net Information Services (IIS), SQL Server, ActiveSync Application.

Important: Firewall exception settings are advanced settings. Please con-
sult your network administrator before applying any firewall exceptions.

Make sure that active directory permissions are allowed for PCs in the
network domain that receive data from the CE Batch application.

Make sure that SQL Server or MSDE is communicating with the work-
station application database.

Internet Information Services (IIS) is a tool that your handheld device
uses to communicate with the database. It is included with the Win-
dows Server (version 2000 and higher). IIS must be properly setup and
configured in order for the SQL Server and SQL CE databases to com-
municate with each other. Make sure that IIS is properly setup and con-
figured before proceeding with the CE Batch Portable application
installation.

If you are using IIS v6.0 with Windows Server 2003 or Windows Vista,
you must enable the web service extension to allow the ISRP Sync
URL dll to run. For more information, please refer to

IIS will only accept connections if it can locate an active network con-
nection. If your computer does not have a network adapter, you must
install and configure one or IIS will not work. Additionally, if your net-
work card is only active when connected to a network, then you must
connect your network card to a network or to a hub or switch, even if
that hub or switch is not connected to anything else.
