Remote Data Access Configuration Options

Before you install the CE Batch application on the batch portable device,
you must determine and configure the Remote Data Access configuration
option for your system.

Important: Remote Data Access setup deals with advanced network set-
tings. Consult your system administrator to determine the best Remote
Data Access (RDA) setup option for your system.

IntelliTrack ISRP applications support four basic RDA configurations.

Option 1: Uses one computer. The IntelliTrack workstation application,
Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center Software for
Vista, IIS, and MSDE/SQL Server reside on one local computer. Intelli-
Track recommends this option when you use one workstation and one or
more handheld devices. This option works in a domain or work group net-
work environment and with MSDE, SQL Express, or SQL Server.

When you use this option, please be aware of the following security
requirements:

The installer must have administrative privileges on the computer.

This option works with SQL Server Authentication or NT Authentica-
tion.

A domain user account is not required.

Since IIS and SQL Server reside on the same computer, the Create IIS
Dependencies Utility (Start > Programs > IntelliTrack > ISRP >
ISRP Application > Create IIS Dependencies) may be used to con-
figure IIS and SQL Server permissions with this setup option. Running
the utility creates a virtual directory, sets full control file permissions
for the Internet user in the virtual directory, and adds the Internet user
to the WMS_USER role in SQL Server (does not apply to MSDE).

Verify the Sync URL setting in the Batch Portable Utility. For this
option, it should be set to http://{computer name}/Intel-
liTrack/sqlcesa35.dll. For more information about the Sync
URL setting, please refer to

“Sync URL Setting” on page 28
