Programming Instructions

for

TowerClean Disc Media Filtration Systems

The following instructions refer to the filter keypad and display on the filter control panel.

The filter is programmed at the factory prior to shipment. In most instances, program changes
are not required.

The filter program display defaults to the main menu. Main menu items include Filter Status,
CONFIGURATION, MANUAL FLUSH, FLUSH SETTINGS and COUNTERS. Press the left or
right arrow keys to navigate from one main menu item to the next. With the desired menu item
displayed, press the down arrow key to navigate through the program values in the displayed
menu item.

Program Status

SpinKlin filters will automatically backwash at the programmed time interval. Once per day is
typical. An automatic backwash cycle is also initiated when the difference between the filter inlet
and outlet pressure (differential pressure) reaches 7 psi.

DP STATUS ON/OFF Either “ON” or “OFF”, this indicates the status of the differential pressure
(DP) switch. The differential pressure switch closes (ON) when the differential pressure across
the filter inlet and outlet reaches 7 psid, and initiates an automatic backwash (flush) cycle. The
filter pods are backwashed one at a time, in sequence.

Next Flush _ _ _ _ This indicates the time remaining (in minutes) until the next backwash cycle,
unless a cycle initiates by the differential pressure switch before the timer counts down to zero.
The timer resets to the programmed value whenever a backwash cycle is initiated. This assures
that a backwash cycle will occur once a day to prevent prolonged residence of filtered particulate
on the disc filter media. (see “FLUSH SETTINGS”, “Cycle Time” below).

CONFIGURATION

# of Pod Valves = _ _
Press the “enter” key to activate the field and using the numeric keys, enter the value
corresponding to the number of filter pod valves, and press “enter”. For Opal and Galaxy
SpinKlin filters, the value entered corresponds to the number of individual filter pods. For Cyrstal
SpinKlin filters, the value entered corresponds with the number of duplex filter pods.

Valve Delay (ON/OFF)
Select and enter “OFF”, unless the SpinKlin filter is provided with air-assisted flush. For filters
provided with air-assisted flush, select and enter “ON”.

Main Valve ON/OFF
If the filter is provided with a master valve (actuated diaphragm valve on filter outlet) and/or a
dedicated backwash booster pump, select and enter “ON”. Otherwise, select “OFF”.

SOLENOID TEST (or MANUAL FLUSH)

Manual Pod 1 ON/OFF
Pressing the “enter” key toggles between “ON” and “OFF”. Normally “OFF”, select and enter
“ON” to force a backwash on the pod corresponding to the pod number. The selected pod will
stay in backwash until “OFF” is selected and entered.
