Table 50 General Troubleshooting Information for Universal Replicator for Mainframe

Corrective Action

Error

Make sure that all Universal Replicator for Mainframe requirements
and restrictions are met (for example, track format, VOLSER).

Make sure the primary and secondary storage systems are powered
on and fully operational (NVS, cache, DFW). See the HP
StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000 Disk Array Owner's Guide
for
operational and troubleshooting information.

Check all the entered values and parameters to make sure you
entered the correct information on the Universal Replicator for
Mainframe windows (for example, remote storage system S/N,
path parameters, primary data volume IDs and secondary data
volume IDs).

The Remote Web Console software hangs, or
Universal Replicator for Mainframe operations do
not function properly.

Make sure that the correct CU image is selected.

Status of pairs and/or logical paths is not
displayed correctly.

Locate the SIM (see the HP StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000
Remote Web Console User's Guide
for instructions). For information
about Universal Replicator for Mainframe SIMs, see

“Checking

Service Information Messages (SIMs)” (page 242)

An R-SIM warning is displayed on your Remote
Web Console computer.

Remove the error cause, and then retry the Universal Replicator for
Mainframe operation.

A Universal Replicator for Mainframe error
message is displayed on your Remote Web
Console computer.

Make sure that the problem is not with the computer, LAN hardware
or software. Restart the computer and retry connecting to the storage
system.

There is a problem with the Remote Web Console
computer or the Universal Replicator for Mainframe
software.

Check the path status in the DKC Status window, and see

Table 50 (page 236)

The status of a logical path is not normal.

Check the detailed pair status in the Detailed Information window.

for suspend types and corrective action

for suspended Universal Replicator for Mainframe pairs.

The pair status is suspended.

Because the time setting of the SVP is changed, the monitoring data
might not be updated. Set the Monitoring Switch to Disable, and
set the Monitoring Switch to Enable again. For further information
on Monitoring Switch, see the HP StorageWorks
XP24000/XP20000 Performance Monitor User’s Guide
.

Although the Monitoring Switch is set to Enable,
the monitoring data is not updated.
