• When creating a pair using an external LU that is mapped as an internal LU, the local array
automatically decides whether to use Flex Copy XP or Business Copy XP depending on the mapped
volumes’ attributes. Since Flex Copy XP and Business Copy XP differ in the connection configuration for
the server and array, you must be careful with the attributes for the volume that creates the copy pair.
When creating a Flex Copy XP pair, a server connected to the external array can read from and write
to the external LU. However, if the server is also connected to the local array, the server cannot read
from and write to the internal LU mapped to the external LU. Figure 14 shows the connection
configuration of the server and arrays when creating the Flex Copy XP pair.
