3 Preparations
Loading Paper
Paper can either be loaded into the cassette or set on the MP tray. For details on the media types
that can be used, refer to the Advanced Operation Guide.
Notes • After taking new paper out of its packaging, be
sure to fan through them a few times to separate
the sheets before loading the paper into a
cassette or setting it on the MP tray.
• If you are using paper that has been folded or is
curled at all, straighten it out before loading the
paper into a cassette or setting it on the MP tray.
Failure to do so may result in a paper jam.
• If you will not be using the machine for a
prolonged period of time, remove all paper from
the cassette(s) and seal in its original packaging in order to protect it against moisture.
Important • If you ever use paper that has already been copied or printed onto, be sure not to use paper
that still has staples or clips attached to it. Doing so may result in lowered copying or printing
quality or even damage to the machine.
Loading Paper Into a Cassette
Standard paper (60 to 90 g/m²), thick paper (90 to 105 g/m²), recycled paper, or color paper can be
loaded into each cassette. Up to 250 sheets of standard paper (80 g/m²) can be loaded into each
cassette at one time.
The sizes of paper that can be loaded into the cassettes are: A4, A5R, ISO B5, JIS B5, Folio, 16K,

× 14" (Legal), 8

× 11" (Letter), Executive, and 8
1/2
× 13" (Oficio II).
1 Pull the cassette all the way out of the machine.
Important When pulling the cassette out of the machine, be sure to support it so that it doesn’t fall out
suddenly.
