over a phone line etc.

BMP file

• BMP is an abbreviation of Bitmap, and an image

format most commonly used in Windows.

• The extension of this file is [.bmp].

Clip

• This manual refers to materials used as MotionSD

STUDIO editing materials as clips. Moving images are

referred to as video clips and still images are referred

to as still image clips.

Effect

• Various digital processing effects (special effects) can

be used. Clips become videos with special effects by

computations on the personal computer (digital

processing), called rendering.

Exif file

• Exif stands for Exchangeable Image File Format.

• It stores information other than just image information

in JPEG and TIFF files. Information such as

thumbnails, create date and time, digital camera

name, focus length, aperture, shutter speed, white

balance and GPS information (location information),

etc. is recorded.

Frame

• Video images are created like motion picture film by

displaying still images continuously to create motion.

• For the NTSC system, about 30 still images are

displayed for 1 second. For the PAL system, about 25

still images are displayed for 1 second. One of those

still images is referred to as a frame.

JPEG file

• This file format adopts the data compression method

that thins out colour data from a coloured image to the

extent that the human eye cannot discern. JPEG is an

abbreviation of Joint Photographic Experts Group, and

derives from the designation of the committee that has

developed this compression format.
