AXIS 241QA/AXIS 241SA - System options

If the mail server requires SMTP authentication, check the box for Use authentication to

log in to this server and enter the user name and password used for logging in. Several

different methods of authentication are available. See the online help for more

information.

SNMP
The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) allows the remote management of

network devices. Select the version of SNMP to use, depending on the level of security

required. These versions have different levels of security. The three levels of security are:

• SNMP V1 and SNMP V2c - use very simple security, for example, using the com-

munity name as password

• SNMP V3 - provides encryption and secure passwords. Use with HTTPS.

If using HTTPS, enter the password if it has not already been set. To set the password

again, the AXIS 241QA/AXIS 241SA must be reset to the factory default settings.

Trap reporting for SNMP versions 1 and 2
Network cameras use trap reporting to send messages to a management system for

important events, or status changes. When these settings are used with SNMP versions 1

and 2, the security is limited as stated above. Example:

A trap message may be sent indicating that the configure file has changed, or has not

changed when SNMP has started; or when a link that has been down, is up again; or when

an authentication attempt fails.
Trap reporting for SNMP versions 3

SNMP v3 is a more secure version providing encryption and secure passwords. To use

SNMP v3, HTTPS must be activated. To use traps with SNMP v3, an SNMP v3 management

application is needed.

UPnP™
The video server includes support for UPnP

in Windows ME and Windows XP. UPnP

is

enabled by default.

Note:

UPnP™ must be installed on your workstation if running Windows XP. To do this, open the Control Panel
from the

Start Menu and select Add/Remove Programs. Select Add/Remove Windows Components and

open the

Networking Services section. Click Details and then select UPnP™ as the service to add.

RTP / MPEG-4
These settings are the port number, IP address, and Time-To-Live value to use for the

media stream(s) in multicast MPEG-4 format. Only certain IP addresses and port numbers

should be used for multicast streams. For more information, please see the online help.

Bonjour
Your Axis network camera includes support for Bonjour. When enabled, the camera is

automatically detected by operating systems and clients that support this protocol.
