AAC

AAC is short for Advanced Audio Coding and
refers to an audio compression technology
standard used with MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. Sev-
eral applications can be used to encode AAC
files, but file formats and extensions differ de-
pending on the application which is used to
encode. This unit plays back AAC files en-
coded by iTunes.

JPEG picture files

JPEG is short for Joint Photographic Experts
Group and refers to a still image compression
technology standard.
! Files are compatible with Baseline JPEG

and EXIF 2.1 still images up to a resolution
of 4 092 × 4 092. (EXIF format is used most
commonly with digital still cameras.)

! Playback of EXIF format files that were pro-

cessed by a computer may not be possible.

! There is no progressive JPEG compatibility.

p When naming a JPEG image file, add the

corresponding file name extension (.jpg, or
.jpeg).

p This unit plays back files with these file

name extensions (.jpg, or .jpeg) as a JPEG
image file. To prevent malfunctions, do not
use these extensions for files other than
JPEG image files.
