Initial settings of the printer driver

Configuring the optional environment of this machine

When you use this machine for the first time, configure the printer driver so that it contains information such as
what options are installed on this machine and whether or not authentication settings have been configured.

Display the [Properties] window of the printer driver.

In Windows 8.1, click [ ] in the Start window, then click [Control Panel].

In Windows 8, right-click the Start window, then click [All apps] - [Control Panel] - [Hardware and Sound]
- [View devices and printers].

In Windows Server 2012/Server 2012 R2, open the Start window,

then click [Control Panel] - [Hard- ware] - [View devices and printers].

In Windows 7/Server 2008 R2, open the Start menu, then click [Devices and Printers].

If [Devices and Printers] is not displayed, select [Control Panel] - [Hardware and Sound], and click

[View devices and printers].

In Windows Vista/Server 2008, click the Start menu, and select [Control Panel] - [Hardware and Sound]
- [Printers].

When [Control Panel] is displayed in Classic View, double-click [Printers].

In Windows Server 2003, click the Start menu, then select [Printers and Faxes].

If [Printers and Faxes] is not displayed, select [Control Panel] - [Printers and Other Hardware] -

[Printers and Faxes]. When [Control Panel] is displayed in Classic View, double-click

[Printers and Faxes].

In the [Configure] tab, configure the information such as what options are installed on this machine and
whether or not authentication settings have been configured.

If you are using Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/Server 2008/Server 2008 R2/Server 2012/Server 2012 R2,
[Auto] under [Obtain Settings] is enabled by default. Thus,

the information of this machine is automatically obtained and applied for [Device Option].

When [Auto] in [Obtain Settings] is disabled, clicking [Obtain Device Information],

obtains and reflects the information on this machine to [Device Option].

If you are using Windows Server 2003, set the option manually using [Device Option]. Select the item
to change from the list, and set a value in [Setting].
