Getting Help

The SOS software connects you to a Customer Support

Representative. SOS is available toll-free 24 hours a day, seven

days a week. You can contact SOS by telephone or by using your
built-in modem. Be sure to connect your modem before you call,
so that the representative can access your system if necessary. For
information on calling SOS with your built-in modem, see the next
section, "Calling SOS." To call SOS using your telephone, dial

1-888-4SONYPC (1-888-476-6972).

Calling SOS

The SOS application enables you to exchange information with a Sony
Customer Support Representative (CSR). Using the built-in
speakerphone is the most convenient way to contact SOS. Here's
how it works:

□ Type your name and a description of the problem in the SOS window
□ Dial the SOS hotline with a single click of the mouse
□ Specify the access level for the CSR

□ The CSR resolves the problem
Before using SOS, make sure the PC is connected to a phone line as
described in "Connecting the Phone Line and Phone" on page 11. If you
do not have a phone line connected to your PC, you can call SOS by
dialing 1-888-4SONYPC (1-888-476-6972).

Note

If you call SOS using the speakerphone and you need to reboot your PC, you will lose
your connection to SOS. For this reason, it is recommended that you connect a

regular telephone to the Sony PC as described in "Connecting the Phone Line and
Phone" on page 11. You can then take the receiver off the hook to maintain the

connection while you reboot the PC.
