Before recording, slide it to OPEN. When you
finish recording, slide it to CLOSE to protect

Slide it in the direction of the arrow to get the
wide-angle picture.
|l9| Eyecup
To achieve better camera recording, place
your eye firmly against it. If you wear
glasses, bend it back to get a better view of
the viev^inder. (You cannot bend back the
eyecup of a color viewfinder.)

You can monitor the picture being recorded
or played back. For details on the indicators
in the viewfinder, see page 50.
|2l] Camera recording/battery lamp
This red lamp lights up during camera
recording. Wnen it flashes, the battery is
dead.
[22] FADER button
When fading-in, press this switch during
Standby mode and then press START/STOP.
When fading out, press this switch during
recording and then press START/STOP.
PROGRAM AE dial (p. 29)
Set it to select from four PROGRAM AE
modes (Portrait/Sports/High-Speed Shutter-
/Twilight mode) to tit the shooting situation.
[24) Tripod receptacle (p. 15)
Attach a tripod (not supplied) here.
When attaching a non-SONY tripod, make
sure that the length of the camera mounting
screw is shoider than 6.5 mm (9/32 inches).
Otherwise, the screw might damage №e
internal components of the camcorder.
0 FOCUS button (p. 27)
Press it to set the camcorder in manual focus.
1^ Focus dial (p. 27)
Turn it to adjust the focus manually and to
achieve a sharp focus in manual focus.
