Windscreen

When making movies outdoors on a windy day, the
sound of the wind on the microphone is recorded,

too. Attaching the microphone's windscreen will

reduce wind noise. This windscreen may be kept on

all the time.

Position of the Microphone

The sound should be monitored with the earphone

to decide the position of the microphone. Since the

standard microphone is omnidirectional, it picks up
the sound of the film drive if it is placed close to the

camera. It should be placed at least 1 m in front of
the camera and should be close to the sound source
for faithful reproduction. When filming with simul
taneous sound recording, it is best to have someone

hold the microphone in order to obtain good sound

quality. If you film by yourself, attach the micro

phone to the camera bag or to a tree or pole,

depending on the situation. Use the microphone

clip. When you place the microphone on something,

please make sure to use the microphone stand. Be

careful not to hit the microphone or pull the cord
while filming, or the noise will be recorded.
