PROBLEM

CAUSE & REMEDY

1 cannot receive documents

automatically.

•Make sure recording paper is installed

properly.

•Make sure the RECEIVE MODE of the

unit is set to TAD/FAX or FAX mode and

not to TEL mode.

•Shorten your OGM.
•Set the vox sensitivity (VOX SENSE) to

“LOW”. See page 4-9.

Recording image is faint and 1 cannot

read it well.

•The sender transmitted a faint document.

Request him to transmit a more clear

document (e.g. copied one) again.

The other party complains that the

letters on the document are distorted.

•If your line has special telephone service

such as call waiting, it may have been
activated by another telephone call.
Connect the unit to a line that does not

have such service.

•Be sure another telephone is not

connected to the same line as your unit.

The START/COPY indicator flashes for
about 40 seconds after the unit

receives a call automatically, but
nothing is recorded.

•The caller hangs up during or

immediately after playing back your
OGM. This may occur if the disconnect
signal is not transmitted from the central
office.

When 1 receive or copy a document that

has a dark background or contains

photographs, the unit produces a high
pitched noise.

•This is quite normal.

The unit does not operate properly.

•Turn the POWER switch off, then turn it

on again.

Problems when receiving international

facsimiles.

•Shorten your OGM to 10 seconds or less.
•FAX RX SPEED may need to be set to

4800 bps. See page 4-4.

The recording paper does not move

during copying or receiving.

• Make sure that the recording paper is

correctly inserted between the upper
guide plate and lower guide plate.

• If the recording paper is wrapped around the

roller, turn off the power and remove the

paper. Cut off any part of the paper that is
creased, and reinsert the paper between
the guides.
