Recording of Index Signals
Index signals can be recorded during recording or on an
already recorded tape.
Index signals will be recorded automatically in the
following cases:
•At the tape position at which the Record Button is
pressed to start recording.
•At the tape position at which a Timer Recording is
started.
•At the tape position at which an OTR recording is
started.
Recording Additional Index Signals During
Recording
0 Press the Index Button.

0 Press the Write Button at a position that you want to
mark with an index signal for easy, quick locating dur­
ing playback.

•The Write Indicator will be lit for a few seconds.
• If the Write Button is pressed while the VTR is in the
recording pause mode, the pause mode is release
and the recording starts.
•To change the Multi-Function Display from the Index
indication mode to the Counter indication mode,
press the Index Button.
Recording Index Signals on Already Recorded Tapes
(T) During playback, press the Pause/Still Button at the
tape position that you want to mark with an index sig­
nal.

•When the Write Button is pressed, the tape will be
rewound a little, and Playback will start and the index
signal will be recorded.
•The Write Indicator will be lit for a few seconds.
•When the recording of the index signal is completed,
the Multi-Function Display changes over from the in­
dex indication to the counter indication mode, and the
playback will automatically restart.

• Recording of index signals is not possible on cas­
settes with broken out tab.
•When recording index signals, take care that the
interval between two index signals is at least 2
minutes (SP mode) and 5 minutes (LP mode).
•While the Write Indicator is lit, no other VTR func­
tions can be operated.
