Indicates a potential hazard that could result in serious injury or death.

tank on a level surface away from the work area.

CAUTION :

Don’t allow the weight of the tank to rest on the
fittings. Damage to the tank will result. Position
the tank on a suitable support. We used an
ordinary 2x4 for the photo below.

1.

To install the tank, start by making sure that the
tank subframe buffers are in place. Then, posi-
tion the tank into the vehicle.

2.

Make sure the tank rests in the frame without
interference. The edge of the tank should meet
the main frame in the area indicated in the photo
with minimal force applied. In the following photo
the weight of the technicians hand is enough to
obtain the proper fit. What you don’t want to do is
draw the tank into the frame using the mounting
bolts as this will cause damage to the fuel tank or
other vehicle systems.

3.

Install the tank mounting bolts and tighten to 5.0
lbf•ft (6.8 N•m)

4.

Reinstall the outlet (left side) and return (right
side) fuel hoses into the tank. When reinstalling
the quick connect fittings, be sure to press the fit-
