Hangouts

Previously known as Google Talk™, is an updated place to hangout, share photos, and even video calls. This
is a free web-based application for instant messaging offered by Google. Conversation logs are automatically
saved to a Chats area in your Gmail account. This allows you to search a chat log and store them in your
Gmail accounts.

Note: Before using this application, you must first have an active Gmail account available and be currently

logged in.

1. From the Home screen, tap

Apps >

Hangouts.

2. If prompted, select whether to enable SMS messaging via the Hangouts application.
3. If prompted, read the on-screen information and confirm your phone number is correct before using the

application. Tap Confirm.

Note: Confirming your phone number does not make it publicly available.

Lookout

Lookout Security provides mobile device-specific security features that are coupled with a minimal
performance hit. Lookout Mobile Security provides key security options that are unique to the mobile market.
Along with the anti-virus and anti-malware tech, there’s a lost and stolen phone locater service, an application
privacy adviser, and a backup service.

1. From the Home screen, tap

Apps >

Lookout.

2. Read the on-screen information, tap Get started > Next.
3. Read the on-screen descriptions and activate those desired features. Tap Next to progress to the next

screen.

4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Maps

Google Maps allow you to track your current location, view real-time traffic issues, and view detailed
destination directions. There is also a search tool included to help you locate places of interest or a specific
address. You can view locations on a vector or aerial map, or you can view locations at the street level.

Important! Before using Google Maps you must have an active data (3G/4G/LTE) or Wi-Fi connection. The

Maps application does not cover every country or city.

Enabling a Location source

Before you use Google Maps and find your location or search for places of interest, you must enable a
location source. To enable the location source you must enable the wireless network, or enable the GPS
satellites.

Important! The more location determining functions are enabled, the more accurate the determination will be of

your position.

1. From the Home screen, tap

Apps >

Settings >

Location.

2. Tap Mode and select an available on-screen location accuracy setting. Choose from High accuracy,

Power saving, or GPS only.

Mode: Allows you to choose a location mode. Each mode enables different technologies and affects both

the accuracy of the location and battery usage.

3. Tap My places to enable the storage of your favorite locations.

To receive better GPS signals, avoid using your device in the following conditions:

● inside a building or between buildings

● in a tunnel or underground passage

● in poor weather

● around high-voltage or electromagnetic fields

● in a vehicle with tinted windows

Opening Maps

1. From the Home screen, tap

Apps >

Maps.

2. Tap Accept & continue from within the Welcome page.
3. Tap the My location button to find your location on the map with a blinking blue dot.
4. Locate the top row of the buttons to access additional options.

Memo

This application lets you write memos that can include text, audio, and images.

1. From the Home screen, tap

Apps >

Memo.

2. Tap

Options to reveal available Memo categories or Manage categories.

3. Tap

Search to search for a matching text string within your available memos.

Tap

Tap to create memo to create a new memo.

Tap

Menu and select one of the following options:

Select: allows you to select an available memo.

Delete: allows you to delete selected memos.

Account: allows you to access an available account.

About this service: View information about the Memo app.

Messages

This application allows you to use the Short Message Service (SMS) to send and receive short text messages
to and from other mobile phones.
You can also use the Multi Media Service (MMS) to create multimedia messages to send and receive from
other mobile phones.

Mobile HotSpot

Provides access to the Tethering and Mobile HotSpot menu where you can use either the USB tethering or
portable HotSpot functionality.

1. From the Home screen, tap

Apps >

Mobile HotSpot.

2. Activate the desired connection method. For more information, see “Mobile HotSpot” on page 59 or see

“USB Tethering” on page 59.
