Accessibility

This service lets you enable and disable downloaded accessibility applications that aid in navigating your
Android device, such as TalkBack (uses synthesized speech to describe the results of actions), KickBack
(provides haptic feedback for actions), and SoundBack (plays sounds for various actions). Also lets you
enable use of the power key to end calls.

1. From the Home screen, tap

Apps >

Settings >

Accessibility.

Note: Initially, it might be necessary to download accessibility applications from the Play Store.

2. Select from the following:

Vision:

TalkBack: Activate the TalkBack feature. TalkBack, when installed and enabled, speaks feedback to help

blind and low-vision users.

Important! TalkBack can collect all of the text you enter, except passwords, including personal data and credit

card numbers. It may also log your user interface interactions with the device.

Dark screen: Allows you to keep your screen turned off at all times until you double press the Power key

to turn the feature off. The TalkBack feature must be enabled.

Rapid key input: Allows you to release your finger rather than double tapping to enter a selection when

using the TalkBack feature.

Speak passwords: Reads out password information. The TalkBack feature must be enabled.

Font size: Change the size of the fonts used on the device within menus, options, etc. Choose from and

available on-screen option.

Magnification gestures: Use exaggerated gestures such as triple-tapping, double pinching, and dragging

two fingers across the screen.

Notification reminder: Plays a beep when you have unread notifications. Touch and move the slider to the

right to turn it on.

Negative colors: Invert colors for better contrast.

Accessibility shortcut: Allows you to quickly enable accessibility features in 2 quick steps. Touch and

move the slider to the right to turn it on. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Text-to-speech options: Allows you to adjust your text-to-speech settings.

Hearing:

Flash notification: Allows you to set your camera light to blink whenever you receive a notification.

Turn off all sounds: Allows you to mute every sound made by the device during taps, selections,

notifications, etc.

— Hearing aids: Improve the sound quality of your device for use with hearing aids.

Samsung subtitles (CC): Allows you to turn on subtitles when using applicable Samsung apps. Assistant

menu: allows you to improve the device accessibility for users with reduced dexterity. Touch and move
the slider to the right to turn it on. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Google subtitles (CC): Allows you to turn on subtitles when using applicable Google apps. Touch and

move the slider to the right to turn it on. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Sound balance: Allows you to use the slider to set the Left and Right balance when using a stereo device.

Mono audio: Allows you to enable stereo audio to be compressed into a single mono audio stream for use

with a single earbud/earphone.

Dexterity and interaction:

Assistant menu: Allows you to improve the device accessibility for users with reduced dexterity. Touch

and move the slider to the right to turn it on. Follow the onscreen instructions. Once activated, this menu
provides an onscreen button that can quickly be activated (using a single tap) to access a list of device
functions.

Note: Activating the Assistant menu, enables the Single Tap mode. Deactivate the feature to remove the

onscreen button.

Press and hold delay: Allows you to select a time interval for this action.

Choose from: Short (0.5 seconds), Medium (1.0 seconds), Long (1.5 seconds), or Custom.

Interaction control: Allows you to enable or disable motions and screen timeout. You can also block

areas of the screen from touch interaction. Touch and move the slider to the right to turn it on. Follow the
onscreen instructions.

Direct access: Allows you to open the Accessibility settings by pressing the Home key 3 times in quick

succession. Select the settings that you want to open to create a check mark.

Answering and ending calls: Allows you to set up the manner in which you accept incoming calls. Tap a

selection to create a check mark.

Single tap mode: Allows you to dismiss or snooze alarms, calendar events and timer alerts, and answer or

reject incoming calls with a single tap.

Manage accessibility: Save and update your accessibility settings or share them with another device.

You can Import/Export your accessibility settings file or share your file with another device (Share via).

Services: Lists the currently installed services.

Blocking Mode

When Blocking mode is enabled, notifications for selected features will be disabled. You will only receive
notifications of incoming calls from people on your allowed list.

1. From the Home screen, tap

Apps >

Settings >

Blocking mode.

2. In a single motion touch and slide the Blocking mode slider to the right to turn it on.

Confirm the Blocking mode active icon

appears in the Status bar.

3. Place a green check mark adjacent to the features that you would like to disable.
4. Configure a time frame for these features to be active. Remove the check mark from the Always field to

configure the From and To time fields.

5. Tap Allowed contacts to assign those contacts that are exempted from these rules. Choose from None, All

contacts, Favorites, or Custom. Allowed contacts will then appear in the Allowed contact list.

Private Mode

This feature allows you to hide personal content from being accessed by anyone else using your device.

1. From the Home screen, tap

Apps >

Settings >

Private mode.

2. In a single motion touch and slide the Private mode slider to the right to turn it on.
3. Select an unlock method and complete the associated set up process.
4. Confirm

Private Mode active appears in the Notifications area.

5. Disable this mode after use to protect hidden content.
