Activating Remote Weather Stations

(Systems utilising Mains, Solar, Battery, or Wind Power)

Remote systems can be configured and interrogated using a laptop PC or other
terminal device. Thoroughly check all sensor and power supply wiring. To test
the system it may be necessary to wait for the main battery to charge or an
alternative 12 V DC supply may be used.

Replace the main battery fuse and apply power to the station. Confirm

all sensor channels report correct data values before departing the installation.

2.10 Switching On

After checking all sensor, power supply and landline wiring, CHECK AGAIN !

Once correct, tidy and safe wiring has been confirmed, the battery fuse

(where appropriate) may be refitted and any power sources switched on.

The Sensus logger should become active. Pressing any key on the

Sensus logger will display a message on the LCD display. This indicates the
system is powered and functioning correctly.

1.

Confirm that sensors are operating correctly by pressing the ‘Down’
key until ‘Data Values’ is displayed.

2.

Use the left and right arrows to scroll around the different sensor
channels to confirm that the displayed values are approximately
correct.

Should erroneous data values be given, check all wiring routes
appropriate to the faulty sensor.

Experienced engineers can generally confirm that sensors are powered
up correctly, and monitor output signals using a digital voltmeter.

If you experience problems at this stage please contact Casella CEL for technical
advice.

Once the System hardware is confirmed to be working it will be

necessary to install the P.C operating software. Please refer to the “Online Pro’
User Handbook
”.
