Daily Weight Gain Program

The operation of the Stockweigh Datamaster Indicator includes a daily weight gain program. The following is a Agetting
started@ program instruction for first users. It is COMMAND operated and the screen replies will guide the user through
the program.

For the purpose of this example, we will use the DOWNLOAD function of the Stockweigh Datamaster Indicator and
prepare a sample file so that we can calculate weight gains.

When a data set is created in the memory of the Stockweigh Datamaster Indicator, each record is stored on one 24-
character line. The four fields-weight, Ident, hash & coding are each separated by a space. This information can easily
be transferred to an IBM compatible computer without the need for any special software. All that is required is a lead to
connect the Stockweigh Datamaster Indicator to the computer via a serial port on the computer and the computer port
on the Stockweigh Datamaster Indicator.

If we create a data set in the computer, it is simple to transfer this to the Stockweigh Datamaster Indicator. The following
is an easy method to do this using standard DOS commands:

!

Connect the Stockweigh Datamaster to a serial port on the computer. Most computers have at least 2
serial ports (with the exception of some notebooks which may have only 1), these are called COM1
and COM2 respectively. You can use either, but you must specify which one you have chosen when
setting up the port. Type MODE COM1:9600,n,8,1,p - press ENTER. A message such as Aresident
portion of mode loaded@ may appear, or the command may just be echoed to the screen depending on
the version of DOS being used. If you are using a COM2 port the COM1 in the command should be
replaced by COM2.

!

Create the following text file containing the information required to be sent to the Stockweigh
Datamaster Indicator in the format specified in Appendix A. Pay particular attention to the character
positions and justification.
