1982-1992 GM F-Body

INSTRUCTIONS

The Part # 993 bolt-in driveshaft safety loop is to be used on any 1982-1992 F-Body

factory equipped with a 700R4 or T-5 transmission.

1. You must use a polyurethane transmission mount

2. Support the transmission with a jack

3. Remove the transmission crossmember

4. Note the mark on the transmission crossmember where the transmission mount

bolt was located at in the slotted hole in the crossmember

5. Cut out the template at the bottom of these instructions. Place the center

template hole so it is positioned over top of where the transmission mount bolt was

located in the slotted crossmember hole

6. Using a center punch, mark the two outside holes

7. Drill the above marked locations to 7/16”

8. Lay your polyurethane transmission mount on the crossmember and make sure

the two holes you just drilled (7/16”) line up with the two outside holes in the

polyurethane transmission mount. Using the supplied 7/16” bolts, make sure you can

thread both bolts through the crossmember and into the polyurethane transmission

mount

9. Re-install the polyurethane transmission mount onto your transmission

10. Re-install the transmission crossmember, make the four crossmember bolts hand

tight only at this time

11. Disconnect the rear of the driveshaft and slide the loop over the shaft

12. Re-connect the rear of the driveshaft

13. Position the driveshaft loop underneath the transmission crossmember so that

the two holes line up with the holes in the transmission crossmember

14. Using the supplied 7/16” bolts and flat washers, put a flat washer onto the bolts

and put the bolt through the driveshaft loop mount, through the transmission

crossmember, and thread them into the polyurethane transmission mount
