A manually adjusted lap belt

is tightened

by pulling on the excess belt while pushing
down hard on the car seat. However, you may
have trouble tightening the belt because of the
upright angle at which you must pull. You may
have to unbuckle the vehicle belt, estimate a
belt length that will make the vehicle belt very
tight, then buckle it again.
