6. Reinstall the computer cover and connect the cables. See “Completing the parts replacement” on

page 54.

Note: When the computer is turned on for the first time after the battery is replaced, an error message
might be displayed. This is normal after replacing the battery.

7. Turn on the computer and all attached devices.

8. Use the Setup Utility program to set the date, time, and any passwords. See Chapter 6 “Configuring

the server” on page 59.

9. Dispose of the failing battery as required by local ordinances or regulations.

Replacing the system board

Attention: Do not open your server or attempt any repair before reading and understanding “Safety information”
on page iii
and “Guidelines” on page 19.

This section provides instructions on how to replace the system board.

Note: This procedure must be performed only by trained service personnel of Lenovo.

CAUTION:

The heat sink and microprocessor might be very hot. Turn off the server and wait three to five minutes
to let the server cool before removing the server cover.

Note: Before replacing the system board, make sure you have a retention module for the new system board.
