The Nearest To Current Position screen's Find By menu allows you to
search for a location by Name Entry, Near Current Location or Near
Cursor.
The Find By menu allows you to search for a location by Name Entry,
Near Current Location or Near Cursor. Searching for a specific name
allows you to find the closest Texaco or Shell gas station depending on
your preference. It is often used in restaurant searches.
Using the Name Filter
Sometimes a search returns too many results or more results than you
feel like scrolling through. The Name Filter in the Nearest To Current
Position screen can help you narrow your search. To use the Name Fil-
ter, press the
N AME F ILTER
field and a keyboard will appear. Type all or
part of the name you are looking for and press
D
ONE
.
The unit will return to the previous list but it will only show those loca-
tions whose names contain the text you entered in the Name Filter
field. For example, you could significantly narrow a search by entering
the word "Taco" in the Name Filter field. This returns results for all the
nearest Taco Bells, Taco Buenos and any other restaurant nearby with
"Taco" anywhere in the name, as shown in the following figures.
To search for a specific restaurant by name, press in the Name Filter
field, left figure. Search results for the word "Taco" are shown at right.
