If you install more than one base station on a system, ensure that you
assign a unique Security code to each base station. However, all base
stations have the same three Handset ID numbers (1, 2, or 3), which
identify the handset to the base station.

Identifying the Handsets to the System

Each of the three handsets registered to a base station share an identical
Security code, but each handset has a unique handset ID number of 1, 2,
or 3.

The handset ID number the handset is assigned to maps back to the
TCM/RJ-11 jack on the back of the base station. The diagram below
identifies which jack supports which handset ID number.

In turn, these numbers correspond to telephone records in the main
system. In the system, these records identify each telephone with a local
number, referred to as a DN (directory number). Since the records will
be set up before you configure your handset, check with your system
administrator to determine which local has been assigned to which port.
From there, you can identify which Handset ID number should be
assigned to each handset.

Note: When a base station is relocated, the Handset ID number follows

the set DN (system telephone record), if the Set relocation feature
is on.
