ABS / Air Bag 2004 User Guide

Vehicle Adapters

The vehicle adapters are used with the DB 25 power
cable, shown on the previous page. The adapter used
depends on the vehicle being tested. Some of the most
common adapters are shown below.

Note: The Air Bag / ABS software tells you which adapter
must be used for the vehicle you are testing. For details, refer
to “

Universal “B” Adapter (213486)

The Universal “B” adapter is for vehicle’s equipped with
Bosch, Teves, or Kelsey Hayes anti-lock brake sys-
tems. The adapter has the following components:

Item 1 8-Pin Connector - connects to the 8-pin connector on

the DB 25 power cable.

Item 2 Leads / Probes - connect to the data link connector

(DLC) of the vehicle’s electronic control unit.

Item 3 Special Leads (not shown) - special, add-on, leads

(216094 and 3305-69) may be required for some
vehicles.

Universal “C” Adapter (3305-74)

The Universal “C” adapter is for vehicle’s equipped with
Sumitomo anti-lock brake systems. The adapter has
the following components:

Item 1 8-Pin Connector - connects to the 8-pin connector

on the DB 25 power cable.

Item 2 Leads / Probes - connect to the data link connector

(DLC) of the vehicle’s electronic control unit.

Ford II Adapter (3305-58)

The Ford II adapter is for vehicle’s equipped with MCU
anti-lock brake systems. It is also for reading Ford EEC-
IV slow codes. The adapter has the following
components:

Item 1 DLC CONNECTOR - connects to the data link

connector (DLC) of the vehicle’s electronic control
unit.

Item 2 8-Pin Connector - connects to the 8-pin connector

on the DB 25 power cable.
