• If the tape drive is not recognized during the SCSI controller

scan, check the

Power

LED to make sure the tape drive is

receiving power.

If the Power LED is not illuminated, check the power connections to the

tape drive.

Internal tape drive:

Power down the system and reseat the power connector on tape

drive.

Power on the system and check the

Power LED

.

If the

Power LED

is not illuminated, replace the power connector

attached to the tape drive with one from a known working device

such as a CD-ROM. If the

Power LED

is illuminated, the problem was

with the power connector. Otherwise, the tape drive may be bad and

Customer Support should be contacted.

Desktop tape drive:

Turn power off to the tape drive and reseat the AC power cord.

Power on the tape drive and check the

Power

LED.

If the

Power

LED is not illuminated, use an AC power cord from a

known working device. If the

Power

LED is illuminated, the problem

was with the cable. Otherwise, the tape drive may be bad and

Customer Support should be contacted.
• If the

Power

LED is illuminated, but the tape drive is not

recognized during the SCSI controller scan, use the LEDs to

verify that the drive has passed its Power-On-Self-Test (POST).

See

table 4

on page 25. If the tape drive LEDs indicate a POST

failure, the tape drive may be bad. Contact Customer Support.

• If the tape drive LEDs indicate that the drive has passed the

POST, check the following connections:
