Error indications relating to SMTP
Category Indication Description
POP3 server error Authentication error. • Entered user name or password may be incor-
rect. Check if the mail settings are configured
correctly.
Failed to find the POP3 server. • The IP address of the server may be incorrect.
Check if the IP address of the server is config-
ured correctly.
• The POP3 server may be down. Ask the net-
work administrator.
SMTP server error Authentication error. • Entered user name or password may be incor-
rect. Check if the mail settings are configured
correctly.
Failed to resolve the mail server
address from DNS. • The designated IP address of the DNS may be
incorrect. Check if the DNS settings are config-
ured correctly.
• The DNS server may be down. Ask the network
administrator.
Failed to find the SMTP server. • The IP address of the server may be incorrect.
Check if the IP address of the server is config-
ured correctly.
