Playing OmniMic test tracks without a CD
OmniMic test tracks can be "ripped" from CD using commercially available software for playback from
a computer soundcard or other player as WAV files.
A test DVD is being planned, which can provide test signals to individual channels in a 5.1 surround
system.
In many cases, the tracks can alternately be saved as MP3 files for playback from computer systems
or MP3 players. If using MP3, use one of the higher quality type MP3 compression formats (128k or
better) for best results. Some ripping programs may do better than others in providing usable MP3
test tracks. For Frequency Response measurement using MP3, the Sine Sweep track will usually
work better than the Pseudo Noise track.
Use of MP3 format is NOT recommended for making Harmonic Distortion measurements.
