Calculations
1. Calculate the expected centripetal force using the measured angular
speed,
2. where m is the mass of the clamp-on mass (neglecting the mass of
the rod), r is the radius of the rotation (the length of the pendulum),
is the angular speed, and v (=r ) is the tangential speed of the
clamp-on mass. Record your results in Tables 1a and 1b.
3. Compare this force to the measured force using a percent
difference [(measured force-expected force)/(measured force) x
100]. Record your results in Table 1b.
