Introduction

The PASCO SE-9767 Visible Ray Optics Set is com-
prised of four large plastic lenses that allow students to
see the reflection, refraction, diffusion, or condensation of
light beams within the lenses as the light passes through
them. The curvature of the faces of the convex and con-
cave lenses is equivalent, so they can be used in combina-
tion for light experiments.

Procedure

Place the lenses in the path of a high intensity light
beam(s), such as that produced by the PASCO SE-9474
Ray Box or the PASCO OS-8521 Light Source, or a laser
beam (PASCO OS-8525 Diode Laser), to demonstrate the
path of the light as it passes through the lenses (Figure 1).
