CHAIN REPLACEMENT

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Remove the 6-inch inner tube all the way to the

top. Remove the two (2) cover bolts opposite the

cover overhang end. Tilt the top cover up half way.

The friction brake must be locked-out to service the

The cover will hit the encoder if opened

too far.

NOTE

drive chain. The 6 inch tube must be supported

before locking out the brake, otherwise it could

fall. The friction brake has a 7/32-inch thru-hole

located on the 1 1/2-inch diameter connecting rod

that the triple chain is attached to. A 3/16-inch

diameter pin can be inserted into the thru-hole to

lock the brake out when the 1 1/2-inch diameter

rod is pulled all the way out of the friction brake

plate. The 3/16- inch diameter pin will hold the

brake in the unlocked position.

2. Remove the 6-inch tube support and jog the

6-inch inner tube down, past the run-away limit

switch. The counter balance weight will bottom-out

on the upper hard stop with the weight in the

uppermost position. Insert a 1/2-inch steel rod

(approximately 8-inches long) through the holes

located on the side of the weight tube near the top

to hold the weight at the top of the weight tube.

The rod must be under the weight. Jog the

6-inch inner tube up a small amount to release the

tension on the counter balance side of the drive

chain and support the 6-inch tube appropriately.

3. With the 6-inch inner tube supported from the

bottom and the counter balance weight supported

by the 1/2-inch diameter rod, remove the triple

master link from the counter balance weight.

Attach a wire through the holes in the end of the

chain link and make a loop. Attach a small rope

to the loop in the wire. The chain can now be

lowered down to rest on the 6-inch tube.

4. The supported 6-inch inner tube can now be

lowered and removed. The triple master link on

top of the 6-inch inner tube can now be removed.

The wire loop can also be removed from the old

chain. Run the wire through the counter balance

weight end of the new chain and loop. Attach the

rope used to lower the old chain to the loop.

5. Attach the master link to the 6-inch inner tube

making sure all the master link side plates are lined

up. Make sure the new chain, with the cams, is

oriented in the same direction as the old chain.

6. From the top of the reciprocator, pull the new

chain up the 10-inch pipe and raise the 6-inch

inner tube as appropriate. When enough chain

has been pulled up, drape the chain over the

sprocket. Attach the triple master link to the counter

weight and chain making sure all the master link

side plates are lined up. Re-install the dual roller

guide and the two (2) single roller guides to the

base plate of the 10-inch tube.

7. Remove the 6-inch tube support and jog the

6 inch inner tube down to take the pressure off

of the 12-inch rod holding the counter balance

weight; remove the 1/2-inch rod.

8. Raise the 6-inch tube to the top and remove the

7/32-inch diameter lock-out pin in the friction brake.

9. Replace the top cover and tighten the four (4)

bolts.
