MAINTENANCE

DISK RECIPROCATOR

MAINTENANCE

1. Remove the two (2) bolts on the top cover that

are on the end opposite the cover overhang and

raise the cover. The cover will hinge on the back

two (2) bolts.

>

The cover will hit the encoder if opened

too far.

NOTE

2. Check the chain and sprocket for wear.

Lubricate the triple chain with a small amount of

silicone-free chain oil.

3. Check the weight tube guides for wear. If nec-

essary, lubricate the inside of the weight guide

tube with a small amount of silicone-free oil. Oil

should be applied to the inside walls of the weight

tube.

Be careful not to apply too much oil as

it may run down inside of the tube and drip

out the bottom and possibly cause product

contamination.

4. Check that the bolts on the motor/gear box,

limit switches, stop plate, and stops are tight.

Tighten if necessary.

5. Check the guide rollers for wear. Replace as

necessary. Do not over-tighten the roller ten-

sioners. The rollers should have approximately

1/8-inch clearance at the point of contact.

6. If you have to gain access to the motor,

encoder, or terminal box, close the cover and re-

place the two (2) bolts on the opposite end of the

cover from the hinge bolts. Remove the two (2)

hinge bolts and swing the cover in the opposite

direction all the way up until the far edge rests on

the 10-inch pipe.

7. After servicing, replace all of the cover bolts

and tighten.

LOCK-OUT

INSTRUCTIONS

Electric Overhead Reciprocator

1. The safety brake has a 7/32-inch thru-hole lo-

cated on the 1 1/2-inch diameter rod that the triple

chain is attached to. A 3/16-inch diameter pin can

be inserted into the hole when the rod is pulled

all the way out; this will lock-out the brake. The

lock-out is used when removing or installing new

chain or the 6 inch inner tube.

The tube must be

supported before locking-out the brake, as the

6-inch diameter inner tube could fall causing

severe bodily injury as well as damage to the

machine.

2. The counter balance weight can be locked at

the top of the weight tube for replacing the chain

or 6-inch tube. The 6-inch inner tube must be

jogged down past the run-away limit switch in

order to move the weight to the top position. The

counter balance weight will bottom-out on the top

hard stop; 1 1/2-inch diameter steel rod (approx-

imately 8-inches long) must be installed through

the holes on the side of the weight tube near the

top. The rod must be inserted under the weight.

Make sure when service is completed, the rod

is removed before starting the reciprocator.
