6.3 Preparations for Installation
Installation should comply with NFPA 72E, as applicable to flame detectors. The
detectors can be installed with the use of general-purpose common tools and
equipment.
1 Verify the appropriate Purchase Order. Record the Part No. and the Serial No.
of the detectors and the installation date in the appropriate Log-book.
2 Open the container package prior to detector installation and visually inspect
the detector.
3 Verify that all components required for the detector installation are readily
available before commencing the installation. In case that the installation is
not completed in a single session, secure and seal detectors and conduits.
4 For wiring, use color-coded conductors or suitable wire markings or labels.
12 to 20 AWG (0.5 mm² to 3.5 mm²) wires may be used for site wiring. The
selection of wire gauge should be based on the number of detectors used on
the same line and the distance from the control unit, in compliance with
specifications.
