Unpacking the ORION Permalog+ AMR Acoustic
Leak Logger
To.unpack.the.unit,.follow.these.steps.
1. Unpack and lay out all ORION Permalog+
materials near the water valve box.
2.. Remove.the.valve.box.cover.
3.. Clean.off.the.valve.key.to.assure.a.good.magnetic.
connection.
Assembling the ORION Permalog+ AMR Acoustic
Leak Logger and Mounting Bracket
To.assemble.the.leak.logger.and.mounting.bracket,.
follow.these.steps.
1.. Place.the.ORION.Permalog+.and.cable.through.
the.opening.in.the.mounting.bracket.
2.. Attach.the.radio.endpoint.to.the.mounting.bracket.
by.placing.it.in.the.bracket.and.turning.it.one-
quarter.turn,.until.it.locks.
3.. Place.the.installation.tether.over.the.radio.
endpoint,.as.shown.below.
The.unit.is.now.ready.to.install.in.the.valve.box.

Position, Install and Activate the ORION Permalog+

This.section.describes.the.most.efficient.method.of.
placing.the.ORION.Permalog+.AMR.leak.logger..
It.serves.as.a.guideline..You.may.need.to.make.
modifications.to.suit.your.specific.situation.
Before.you.begin:
•
Remove.all.magnet.keepers.and.plastic.washers.
from.the.ORION.Permalog+.AMR.acoustic.leak.
loggers.
•
Verify.that.all.ORION.Permalog+.magnets.are.
snug..
Note:.If.you.need.to.tighten.the.magnet.assembly,.do.
not.over-tighten.the.magnet..In.a.lift-and-shift.system,.
it.is.important.to.check.the.tightness.every.time.it.is.
retrieved..The.magnets.tend.to.loosen.when.removed.
from.the.valve.key.
1.. Prior.to.placing.an.ORION.Permalog+.in.a.valve.
box,.record.the.eight-digit.serial.number.labeled.on.
the.Permalog..This.will.identify.the.location.of.the.
unit..
2.. To.activate.the.Permalog+.logger,.swipe.the.
magnet.of.a.leak.logger.over.the.top.of.the.unit.to.
be.activated..The.LED.will.flash.several.times.and.
then.once.every.five.seconds..If.the.LED.does.not.
flash,.swipe.again.
Note: .The.Permalog+.leak.logger.should.be.placed.
carefully.on.a.clean.valve.key.
It.may.be.necessary.to.scrape.the.valve.key.to.assure.
good.contact.is.made..Failure.to.gain.good.contact.
between.the.Permalog+.and.valve.key.could.result.in.
poor.performance.and.erroneous.readings.
3.. Slowly.lower.the.leak.logger.into.the.valve.box.
using.the.attached.installation.tether.

4. When the leak detector reaches the valve key.it.
attaches.to.the.key.at.the.unit's.base.magnet.
