What is HomePlug?

HomePlug is a new networking technology that uses the existing power lines in
a home to connect devices such as computers, print servers, etc., eliminating the
need for installing new wiring when a device is added to the network. Today’s
HomePlug products are mainly adapter-type devices which plug into existing
Ethernet networks, but more and more devices are being designed with HomePlug
technology built-in. This means, in the near future, plugging in a device into an
electrical outlet will not only power it, but also allow it to communicate with other
HomePlug devices.
