Using the Object Tree

Monitor disk-space use of volumes, tables, indexes, and partitions.

You must select an object before you can work with it. To select an object,
click on the object icons for nodes, volumes, and catalogs as shown in
Figure 3-1. When an object icon is selected, the background color is blue.
For tables, views, indexes, and programs, you must click on the name of
the object shown in the tabular field, as shown in Figure 3-2

Refresh Nodes

When you log on to dba/m Database Manager, you can refresh the entire
Object Tree. Once logged on, you can refresh volumes within a node, and
all of the objects in the volumes.

This operation might take a long time, depending on the number of objects
on the node and the processing load on the node.

To refresh the objects in a node,

1. Right click on the Node icon. The Refresh button is highlighted in the

Object window.

2. Click on Refresh to refresh the objects from all volumes in the node and

update the Object Tree. When the refresh operation is completed, a
completion message is displayed.

Manage Volumes

You can refresh the objects in the volume or monitor the volume’s disk-
space usage.

Right click on the Volumes icon in the Object Tree. The Refresh and
Monitor buttons are highlighted in the Object Tree. Click on one of the
following:

To retrieve the objects from the volume and update the Object
Tree, click on Refresh. When the refresh operation is completed, a
completion message is displayed.

This operation may take a long time depending on the
number of objects in the volume and the processing load on the

server.

To monitor the volume’s disk-space usage, click on Monitor in the
Main window. The Object Monitoring window is displayed. Refer
to Chapter 6, Monitoring Disk-Space Usage, for more information.
